Pet Owners: Cancer Information Request

HOLIDAY HIATUS

December 19th to January 5th:  Response to remote consultation requests will be delayed beyond our standard response time of 3-5 business days due to reduced staffing and hospital closures during this holiday season. For any emergent clinical concerns for a pet, please contact your closest emergency/urgent care veterinarian or CSU Emergency by calling 970-297-5000.

Important Notice: Radiation Oncology Planned Transition starting December 24, 2025

Colorado State University’s Flint Animal Cancer Center is upgrading our radiation therapy machine to provide the most advanced and effective treatment for our patients. This new machine will offer cutting-edge technology and will ensure pets get the care they need to fight cancer.

During this upgrade, we will not be able to treat patients with radiation therapy starting December 24, 2025, to (approx.) April 1, 2026. Radiation oncology will continue to provide consultation services, see existing patients, and help transition care to other radiation facilities in our area if needed.

Cancer Information for Pet Owners

When you fill out the Pet Owner Information Request, our team is available to answer general questions about cancer for your pet(s) and the oncology care offered at our clinic. There is no charge to pet owners for this service. After filling out the form, you will be contacted within 5 business days by a member of our team.

If you would like an individualized recommendation, we suggest you schedule an on-site appointment. We do not require referrals. The professional fee for a new patient appointment is $270.00 (not including costs for any recommendations discussed in the appointment, including tests, treatments, or medications). Please click here to learn more about appointments. Call the CSU Veterinary Hospital Appointment Line: 970-297-5000 to schedule. You are also welcome to find another veterinary oncology provider near you.

If your patient or pet has symptoms of acute concern, please seek local emergency or urgent care for immediate assistance. CSU also offers urgent and emergency care services.

Please note:

*Cancer information calls with pet owners are restricted by law to solely address general questions such as typical treatments and outcomes for different cancer types. Because we don’t have an active veterinarian-client-patient relationship with you (we have not examined your pet) we cannot provide comprehensive record reviews or second opinions specific to your pet.

Contact may come by phone or email. Consults are free but will be limited to 15 minutes.
