Study to Determine the Safety and Efficacy of TANOVEA™ (Rabacfosadine for Injection) in Cats with Lymphoid Neoplasia

Study Name:

Study to Determine the Safety and Efficacy of TANOVEA™ (Rabacfosadine for Injection) in Cats with Lymphoid Neoplasia Using a Dose Escalation Model

Purpose of the study:

  • To evaluate the safety and effectiveness of rabacfosadine, given once every 21 days, to cats with lymphoid neoplasia

Primary Eligibility Criteria:

  • Cats diagnosed with lymphoma, lymphoid leukemia, or multiple myeloma/plasma cell tumor
  • Adequate organ function as determined by pre-enrollment blood work/urinalysis
  • Two-week washout from chemotherapy, 6 weeks from radiation therapy, 72 hours from NSAIDs
  • No previous lung issues that may predispose to fibrosis

Study Protocol:

  • Pre-enrollment: Physical exam, blood work, and urine testing, cytology or histology of tumor +/- chest x-rays (strongly recommended)
  • Rabacfosadine will be administered once every 3 weeks for up to 5 treatments; at each visit there will be a physical exam and blood testing and urinalysis performed
  • Day 7: physical exam and blood test
  • Once this protocol is finished, monthly rechecks will be required
  • Pets must come to CSU for all visits related to the clinical trial

 Owner Responsibilities:

  • To make and keep all appointments according to study protocol, and follow up examinations

Financial Incentives:

  • Rabacfosadine will be provided at no cost and the costs of examinations, blood/urine tests, and drug preparation/administration will be covered by the study
  • Clients will be responsible for all other costs associated with participation in this study (for example, any other medications that are required, the costs of imaging tests to determine whether the drug is working)
  • In the event of any adverse events from the rabacfosadine treatment, the study will provide funding of up to $2,000 towards costs related to treatment of side effects
