About the Position

The Flint Animal Cancer Center (FACC) at the James L. Voss Veterinary Teaching Hospital is a world leader in veterinary oncology. Its mission is to improve the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of cancer in pet animals, translating research and knowledge to benefit people with cancer.

The FACC has a robust clinical, teaching, research, and outreach program. The organization houses more than a dozen internationally recognized research programs that investigate animal and human cancers. The FACC clinic has cared for companion animals with cancer for nearly four decades with cutting-edge diagnostic capabilities and treatment modalities as part of a comprehensive, multidisciplinary, clinical service of medical, radiation, and surgical oncology and an integrated clinical trials service. The FACC clinical trials service is one of the largest in the country, averaging more than twenty trials a year. The FACC also trains future veterinary oncologists and oncology researchers in a variety of accredited programs.

The Director of the Flint Animal Cancer Center is a unique position that will lead the research, administrative, and service sectors of the Center. The Director’s responsibilities will broadly include leadership and vision for the center, oversight of teaching and clinical service programs, administrative commitments, and faculty support. The position may participate as a faculty member in an appropriate department with the option of participating in clinical service work, research, mentorship, education, or teaching.
