Canine Brain Tumor Accessible for Biopsy

Patient Disease:

Canine Brain Tumor Accessible for Biopsy

Study Name:

Brain Tumor Tissue Biobanking

Purpose of the study:

Lack of access to brain tumor tissue is a barrier to ongoing improvements to therapy. This clinical trial will supply tissues that will be used in numerous other future studies evaluating effective treatments, side effects, novel approaches to therapy

Primary Eligibility Criteria:

  • Canine patient with a brain tumor, accessible for surgical removal or biopsy

  • Owner has elected to pursue therapy with surgery

  • Patient is healthy otherwise

Study Protocol:

  • Pre-enrollment: MRI consistent with a brain tumor

  • Surgical removal of tumor tissue, CSF fluid, skin biopsy (at incision edge), blood sampling for biobanking

Owner Responsibilities:

  • The owner is responsible for all costs not covered by the study (preliminary testing, additional optional cancer therapies)

  • The owner is expected to make and keep all appointments associated with the study

Financial Incentives:

  • VTH credit up to $8,000.00 for brain surgery, to be applied to the account once the surgery is completed
