Patient Disease:

Any Canine Neoplasia except T cell Lymphoma

Study Name:

Preclinical Evaluation of TBX-3440 in Dogs with Neoplasia

Purpose of the study:

  • To evaluate the early safety profile, immune system effects and antitumor activity of this a form of immunotherapy known as activated T cell therapy given to dogs with cancer

Primary Eligibility Criteria:

  • Dogs with a confirmed diagnosis of cancer except for T cell lymphoma

  • Good function of liver and kidneys, acceptable blood cell counts, and free of severe underlying disease

  • Three week washout from chemotherapy; no prior radiation therapy; 72 hour washout from steroids

  • No prior history of autoimmune disease or current treatment with immunosuppressive drugs

Study Protocol:

  • Dogs will have a small amount of blood taken, and the immune cells will be isolated and treated with a protein in the laboratory and then given back as a rapid intravenous injection once every 4 weeks

  • Rechecks required 1 and 3 days after the first injection, then weekly for the first 4 weeks, then every other week thereafter

  • Analysis for tumor response will be performed by direct tumor measurement or through the use of imaging (radiographs, ultrasound, CT)

  • Standard bloodwork will be performed at each visit

  • Additional tests to be performed include blood draws and 2 or 3 biopsies of the tumor over the course of the study to determine how the treatment is affecting the cancer cells

Owner Responsibilities:

  • Follow appointment schedule required by study protocol

Financial Incentives:

  • All procedures related to the clinical trial will be covered by the study

  • Following completion of the clinical trial, a credit of $1000 will be applied to the VTH account for continued treatment at CSU
